Juneteenth: Faith & Freedom
A Black man is troubled by the legacy of American slavery and the misuse of Christianity to justify it. He travels throughout Texas and discovers how the Juneteenth holiday reveals the hope and courage that empowered the formerly enslaved and their descendants to fight for freedom in an often unjust society.
Pathways To Progress
The Mahogany Black Arts and Cultural Center , Pathways to Progress Through Preservation initiative Kickoff event celebrates our recent federal grant award, and its new partnership with the Wisconsin Black Historical Society. This event marks the launch of our mission to elevate local Black history and culture in Racine and Kenosha Counties through arts and education.
The highlight of the event, the Pathways to Progress Through Preservation initiative, will connect our work with the rich heritage of the region, showcasing how the arts can preserve and amplify the stories of Black communities. By engaging local artists, historians, and residents, the event aims to foster collaboration, inspire cultural pride, and invite the community to join us in creating a vibrant space that honors and builds upon the legacy of Black history in the region.
